The Kronos 2007 trailer is finsihed and I finally posted it. Here’s a sample clip from the sequence. Click the thumbnail to launch the QuickTime movie.
The shot was created in modo, rendered in modo, and composited in After Effects. The shot duration is 7 seconds, pixel size is 480 x 270, file size is 2.62 MB.
Digital Matte Samples
Here are some of my older matte shots. Click the images to launch the QuickTime movies.
This shot is called Albany Overpass, and was created with Realviz ImageModeler, Cinema 4D and After Effects. The file is 512 x 288 pixels, 9.03 MB, 12.03 seconds in duration.
This shot is called Takeoff, and was created in Cinema 4D and After Effects. The file is 480 x 270 pixels, 30 seconds in duration (I show the wires), and is 13.8 MB.
Demo Reel
Here is my first demo reel (MAT Demo Reel: 67.7 MB, duration: 02'29, size: 400 x 300).
Demo Reel Shot Breakdown
The first four shots are matte paintings and 3D animations. I designed the sets and the aircraft, modeled and textured the scene from original photography and painting, and animated the scene elements. The Overpass shot was modeled using a photogrammetry technique. Software used for the four matte shots was Photoshop, Cinema 4D, RealViz ImageModeler, and After Effects. To restate, I did all the work, I designed everything, and did the production.
The next two groups of animations are taken from the MTV Video Mods project, produced by Big Bear Entertainment in 2004. This project was interesting in that we were supplied with 3D game characters and game sets. We then created motion capture animation data at the House of Moves in Los Angles of actors lip-synching pop songs and performing dance moves. We then took that animation data and applied it to the game assets, generating scenes as directed by the director.
The first video in this group is Everybody’s Fool followed by Dip it Low. On those videos I was the lead lighter, lead texture artist, and was responsible for the environmental effects of fire, fog, animated skies, water, and snow, and was the lead render wrangler. We had a render farm of 16 PCs, donated by Nvidia. All 3D shots were rendered from Cinema 4D.
The demo was edited in Final Cut and Soundtrack using Apple music clips. Enjoy!
